This exceptional night will gather the most exquisite dancers, principals and soloists from the Bolshoi, Mariinsky, Vienna State Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Royal Ballet of Flanders and Grand Théâtre of Geneva. To the delight of the audience of Geneva, the jewels of classical ballet such as La Sylphide, Giselle and Talisman will be combined with masterpieces of the contemporary ballet created by the most compelling choreographers of our time: William Forsythe and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, to name a few. The ‘Ballet Gala Night’ is brought to you by Geneva Dance Events, an association created in 2015 by Vladimir Ippolitov with the aim to inspire, promote and bring together talented dancers and choreographers from Geneva and other parts of the world. Vladimir Ippolitov trained at the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in St Petersburg. He has worked with the most prestigious international ballet companies: the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, the Grand Théâtre in Geneva and the National Opera House in Bordeaux, where he was a soloist. He regularly produces unique events, which enables him to share his passion for classical and contemporary ballet with a wide audience both locally and internationally. Geneva Dance Events aim is also to supports ballet and ballet dancers in developing countries. Part of the benefits from the ‘Ballet Gala Night’ ticket sales will be donated to Broken Borders, an art project launched in 2017 in South Africa by the dancer and choreographer Fana Tshabalala.
